Kalani Kokonuts
In the second of our special series of episodes, Tassel Time goes behind the scenes at the biggest UK Burlesque event of the year, The Tease Show presented at the KoKo in Camden by former Tassel Time guest Immodesty Blaize, and our guest for this episode is US Performer Kalani KoKonuts!
Performing from a young age Kalani KoKonuts has established herself as a premiere act on the US Burlesque scene. Wowing the crowds at The Tease Show last year with her extraordinary Geisha act, she makes a triumphant return to the KoKo stage and sat down to chat with me The Decadent Gent on Tassel Time…
Catherine D'Lish
In the first of a special series of episodes, Tassel Time goes behind the scenes at the biggest UK Burlesque event of the year, The Tease Show presented at the KoKo in Camden by former Tasel Time guest Immodesty Blaize, and what better way to begin than with one of the stars of the show, the legendary Catherine D’Lish.
Catherine D’Lish is quite simply royalty in the International Burlesque scene.
Performing in varied venues for nearly twenty years, she is regarded by her peers as a “striptease virtuoso”. A recipient of over thirty titles including Miss Exotic World ’92 and ’94, Miss Erotic World, Showgirl of the Year and rather unique Miss Nude Redhead Universe, she continues to tour the world and after rehearsals for the Tease Show she sat down with The Decadent Gent to talk about her career on Tassel Time…
Leyla Rose
Leyla Rose has quickly established herself as one of the most sought after performers on the UK Burlesque scene. A champion gymnast and trained dancer since childhood, Leyla spent nine years as a professional belly dancer before the world of Burlesque came calling.
She has graced international stages shared with some of the biggest names in the industry.
The Decadent Gent spoke to Leyla Rose in May last year over morning tea in Birmingham to talk about her career on Tassel Time…
Missy Malone
Missy Malone is a self described “heady cocktail of 1950s bombshell and classic rock chick”. An actress, model, trained trapeze artist and stilt walker, she has performed her high energy Burlesque routines all over the world.
As an actress she has shown her skills by playing the lead in Ruth Paxton’s acclaimed short film “She Wanted to be Burnt” and has even appeared in a Bollywood feature.
The Decadent Gent caught up with Missy last year after she had returned from performing in Paris where they talked Burlesque over tea on Tassel Time…
World Famous *BOB*
The World Famous *BOB* is quite simply a living legend in the US burlesque scene. A resident performer and MC in New York City she has performed her unique style of Burlesque to enthusiastic audiences all over the world including her infamous “Martini Time” act.
A teacher at the New York School of Burlesque and a dedicated and vocal critic of “sizeism” in all its forms, the self named “Dream Come True Girl” has brought her “Ultimate Self Confidence” workshops around the world and it was in the aftermath of her UK debut last year that *BOB* sat down with the Decadent Gent to talk Burlesque and poodles on Tassel Time.
Princess Farhana
An internationally acclaimed Belly dancer and Burlesque performer, Princess Farhana is a highly respected and legendary artist.
With over 17 years of experience she has travelled the world and performed in front of Hilary Clinton, The Saudi Arabian Royal Family, and The Rolling Stones.
In March 2008 she was the subject of a documentary called “Underbelly: A Year in The Life Of Princess Farhana” and it was the night before the UK premiere of this film that Princess Farhana spoke to The Decadent Gent on Tassel Time.
Red Sarah
Literally running away with the circus at an early age, Red Sarah has established herself as one of the most popular and sought after performers on the UK scene. Recently listed as one of Bizarre Magazines 10 hottest burlesque acts, this red haired siren is a skilled character performer, stilt walker, living sculpture and self taught fire eater.
With over 10 years experience in the scene she sat down and told the Decadent Gent all about it in this rather hot episode of Tassel Time…
Desmond O'Connor
An internationally acclaimed Musical comedian and MC, Desmond O’ Connor is one of the most popular acts on the UK Burlesque and Variety scene. A former musical director of the Cambridge Footlights, he performs regularly at shows, festivals as far afield as London, Dublin and an acclaimed appearance at the New York Burlesque Festival 2008.
His bawdy and sometimes darkly humorous lyrics all pour from his trusty ukulele which has been by his side during his own vaudevillian extravaganza, “And the Devil May Drag You Under” and the host of The Bizarre Ball in 2008.
Mr O’ Connor spoke to and even serenaded the Decadent Gent on this highly fun episode of Tassel Time.
Kittie Klaw
Co-founder and Queen of The Ministry of Burlesque, Kittie Klaw is self described “model of impropriety and a muse of mirth”. A writer, essayist and highly skilled performer, she has been lauded one of the “major forces” of the UK burlesque renaissance and a keen scholar of the art form’s history within our culture. Her vast knowledge of Burlesque has led her to be a talking head on the subject for many television shows including writing and presenting profile on Burlesque legend Eliza Vestris for BBC Radio 4 in March 2009.
The Decadent Gent spoke to Kittie in last year where they discussed Burlesque’s history within British culture and her experiences as a performer in this highly fascinating episode of Tassel Time…
The Puppini Sisters
The Puppini Sisters have been bringing their 1940s style close harmony melodies to worldwide audiences and international acclaim. Their current two albums “Betcha Bottom Dollar” and “The Rise and Fall of Ruby Woo” have been major bestsellers, bringing Marcella, Kate and Stephanie into the affections of Prince Charles himself.
In April 2008 The Puppini Sisters performed a major show at the KoKo Club which The Decadent Gent was lucky enough to interview the ladies about. He overcame equipment breakdowns (smoothed over by Chocolate Easter Bunnies) to bring you this sassy episode of Tassel Time.
